Parallel or Series

There are two different methods of connecting together two batteries in your Truckcamper, parallel or series.

Parallel connection will increase the amperage of your battery bank. The battery bank connection is:

  • The Positive post of the first battery is connected to the Positive post of the second battery
  • The Negative post of the first battery is connected to Negative post of the second battery
  • Your camper’s Positive cable is connected to the first battery’s Positive post
  • Your camper’s Negative cable is connected to the second battery’s Negative post

When you connect to the battery bank in this manner, you will double the available amperage without increasing the voltage of the battery bank

Series connection  is used when you have two 6-volt batteries and need to increase the voltage of your battery bank to 12-volts. The connection in this type of battery bank are different than parallel.  Connecting the batteries together will increase the voltage of your battery bank without increasinge amperage

  • The first battery’s Negative post is connected to the Positive post of the second battery
  • Your camper’s Negative cable is connected to the first battery’s Negative post
  • Your camper’s Positive cable is connected to the second battery’s Positive post
  • Connecting your batteries together to increase the voltage of your battery bank’s voltage and will not increase the amperage of the battery bank.
