If you ask ten people where Baja California is located, with luck,
only two will have a vague idea.
After explaining that Baja is part of Mexico and explaining you are going
camping there, you will likely hear the same response from everyone:
” Why would you go there?” and “It’s unsafe there.”
Would these same people avoid traveling to New York or Chicago?
There is more violence in one week in either city than Baja will see in a year.
Baja California is a peninsula that lies West of
Mexico’s mainland.
The peninsula consists of two separate states. Baja California Norte, which lies south of the California border and halfway down the peninsula in Baja California Sur (BCS).
The peninsula is known for the influence of Spanish missionaries. The oldest is in BCS, where the first Jesuit missionaries arrived in the late 17th century. Over 100 wineries are located in the Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico’s largest wine-producing region.
” With the Pacific on one side and the Sea of Cortez on the other. Between its wildly contrasting shorelines lie deserts, mountains, and plains dancing with spiny botanical oddities and crisscrossed by roads so isolated you’ll think you’ve left Earth.”

What is missing in Baja
You will NOT find two items on the peninsula: snow shovels or snow blowers.
What you will find
Sportfishing
They are sportfishing charters from major cities and towns along
both coasts. Anglers catch marlin,
dorado, yellowtail, tuna, and
species in the rich waters offshore.
Diving & Snorkeling
Diving below the surface of the peninsula’s warm waters is considered one of the world’s premier diving destinations.
Whale watching
Where gentle marine giants of gray and humpback whales breed and give birth in the warm winter waters. Trips leave from Guerrero Negro,
Bahia de los Angles, La Paz, and Cabo San Lucas daily.
A trip that offers the experience of touching these fabulous mammals.
Surfing & Snorkeling
The Baja peninsula’s coastline runs along the Pacific Ocean
and the Gulf of California for over 1,875 miles (3000 km).
Surfers have access to waves along the Pacific coast,
while the Gulf Coast’s general, calmer, crystal-clear waters provide opportunities for snorkeling.
This is why you should experience Baja

Temperature

Before you pack up your Truck Camper and hit the asphalt,
you should know some minor items first.
The farther south you travel, the warmer the temperature
and the higher the humidity.
The Sea of Cortez is on the east side of the peninsula,
which is warmer than the Pacific Ocean.
For example, in Tijuana, just across the border from California,
January’s temp ranges from 7F/20C to 68F/45C,
and in July, 17F/26C to 78F/63C.
While further south along the Sea of Cortez at San Felipe,
January’s temp ranges from 9F/21C to 69F/49C.
During July, the temp ranges from 25F/37C to 75F/99C.
